Grab a hold of those handlebars –you’re about to launch into a nostalgia-fueled thrill ride that’s 3-parts fantastic adventure and 1-part time machine!  The Dare-Luck Club Rule Book gives you every thing you need to play through multifarious adolescent-adventures as a misfit gang of kids living in a deceptively quaint hometown.  -But under its surface, this whistle-stop is crawling with dangers no adult would ever believe: haunted houses, lost treasures, mob-activity, alien invasions, occult sorcery, and the effects of weird science, just to name a few!

This role-playing game comes jam-packed with over 200-pages of information,–from designing your Dare-Lucker to the citizens and creatures they might face to advice on generating and running these escapades.  This book also contains a full-length starting adventure, “Mixing It up with the Mob.” …while sneaking an overdue book back into the library, the club learns about a mafia heist only they can stop!

Don’t just stand there!  Shave years off your age –bring this book back to your gaming group and enjoy the wild exploits of a youth ill-spent! You look just eccentric enough to be part of the club…  The Dare-Luck Club!

Yes, there is a write-up for Gangsters in the adversaries section, in the section detailing the fictional town of Flummoxberg (a pre-made setting you may or may not use) there is some information on a crime boss, and in the starting adventure the main adversaries are a handful of mobsters. That being said, the game system itself does not center around organized crime -they are just one of the things a Game Master can throw at the kids...

If they increase price I will need to as well to maintain an amount to keep producing more content. Unfortunately, for small publishers like me, it is impossible to make a high quality product and sell it at the same prices as a big company due to scale factors. When you pay more for a small press book, you have to remember that most are still just barely getting enough to keep the hobby/business going. All of us still have to have our day job :-)

These are themes you could explore in the adventures you create for your players for sure! However, if you mean, does the game have those elements as foundational pieces of its setting/rules -no. This game system was written with a great intent to allow the Grand Poobah (our version of a GM) to go in a myriad of directions, making it as zany or dark as he/she wishes as well as making it as extraordinary or mundane as he/she wishes. Our adventure collection, "Mayhem-Museum" which just released as a PDF sneak-peak (the final version as well as POD will be out in mid to late June) might be an example of this. In that collection, the adventure, "Curse of the Ander-Whyles Museum" deals with time-travel/alternate dimensions. Meanwhile the other two adventures deal with a zombie-horror experience ("When the Dead Walk the Living Should Run") and a somewhat-silly heist adventure ("Of Heist and Hijnks"). As you can see, things are a real grab-bag, it's really up to you. If...See more

No, but several of the creatures written up in the book are presented as "kits" where you would decide which features best fit your version of that antagonist (for example do you want the kids to face "voodoo zombies" or "virus-based zombies" and if so, there are different features that go with each). All told there are tons of creatures in the use book (I don't have it in front of me, but I think is is like 50+ pages of adversaries). There are some nice charts for quickly developing NPC traits, quirks, and reactions at random. Overall, I would say that a Dare-Luck adventure that deals with monsters/creatures is going to be very specific to those entities, and therefore you're not really having the kids "accidentally" run into werewolves or space invaders, or what have you. Instead, the whole theme of that night's adventure would be discovering these ne'er-do-wells and figuring out how to stop them. -Hope this helps.

The creature list in the book is pretty extensive! Along with "typical" threats such as government agents, bullies, gangsters, greedy business men, goons, rabid dogs, bears, rats, bats, snakes, etc. there are many, many fantastic ones including werewolves, vampires, ghosts, mummies, zombies, wicked witches, blobs, aliens, pod-people, boogey men, giant-sized creatures, robots, and more!

Yes, but that process will take about another 2 weeks or so. If you buy the PDF now, I will be issuing coupons via DriveThru's message system (it goes to your associated email) for all early PDF buyers get the print version at at discount (matching the price of the Print and PDF bundle -right now that package looks like it would cost $36 regular price, $26 to those that already bought the PDF). Hope that helps. Thanks for taking an interest in The Dare-Luck Club!

A question if you care to spend some consideration and time answering it that I have is how does this game distinguish itself from Kids on Bikes and Tales from the Loop that are already out there and established?

Super fair question and I respect the design choices of both of those games (which are top notch). My game has more traditional play mechanics (where adventures are more controlled by the DM and less a group narrative) and has a more raucous, traditional 70s-80s adolescent adventure movie feel (though it can hit a mood as silly as a Scooby Doo episode or as series as the kids in the story "IT." -I tend to like running it within the space of something like "Goonies" or "Monster Squad"). I have been play testing it at literally dozens of virtual cons and have always had the highest of complements on it afterward. That being said it is a really simple game, and not anything ground breaking mechanically. I think you'll love it if you like this sort of genre -I hope you give it a try! Follow Dandyline Games on Facebook if you want some more insight into it... Thanks!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
