Is there any advice in this book about solo play, or is the mini adventure it? Thanks

Just Curious... is there a corebook of One-Dice that is NOT a Level-progression system? I'd like something more like storytelling games with experience points that could buy abilities and skills at player's discretion... is there any scorebook like that?

This book has an alternate experience system on page 36 where you spend points to increase attributes and skills instead of advancing to another level.

Got a Copy of the Book, Love the add-ons. Wished you gave some Guidelines to making a Fantasy Magic User. You give us a Wizard Temple.
I would loved IT IF you would go little into making the Wizards Spells.
What range of Target # should you use for Starting, Intermediate and Advances.
Info on Damage for spells. Is "X" damage Over Kill or Keep that Over Kill but Raise the Target # and/or move it to Advance Spell.
Just a little something to Work with for making You Own Spell Casters.
IF you do have something like that Written Up can you link me to IT??

If I were looking to use this system for a paranormal investigation like the X-Files or Scooby-Doo, would the Universal rules cover that or would the Hauntaway skin be better for something like that?

Looking to run it for my 12 year old daughter and wife, who are both new to rpgs.

The Universal book is more generic - with simple skins for space, fantasy and supers. It has some handy quick intro adventures for new players (one quick solo space game and a short fantasy scenario), designed to help new GMs and players learn the rules.

Hauntaway is light-hearted ghost hunting. It could be useful, particularly for the Scooby end of what you are looking for, but it doesn't explicitly cover X-files.

All the games are fairly cross-compatible though, and the stat blocks are fairly brief and easy, so you could probably just make stuff up without too much work or rob creatures and ideas from the other books in the series.

I hope your wife and daughter enjoy the system - running games for my daughter and her friends was half the inspiration behind the series.

Hey, sorry to bother, but have a question after reading the level system, might sound silly, but i guess you can go beyond 11th level, is there a longer level and points page somewhere ? or is there a simplier (mathematic) method for that ? (i saw also there was a point cost leveling wich i m would be more comfy, but for introduce new and young players, level seems a bit easier to handle for them).

greetings, i would like to know if the previous OneDice setting books (like : cyberpunk, Abney Park's Airship Pirates, Supers, Urban Fatasy...) are compatible with the Revised version, or will you publish updated version for the revised edition ?

The revised edition hasn't changed the rules, just added new rules that were first published in other books and proved to be of more general use. We've no plans to update any of the other existing books. Also, you don't need to have the Universal book to play the others, each is a stand-alone game. They all remain cross-compatible. Hope this helps! :-)

yes, it helps a lot, i m pretty tempted to purchase your system, and i was just currious about the previous genre source books. I ll take a look at the quickstart/primer book, i might purchase your core rules.
Thanks a lot for your answer (and apparently i m a purchaser of this book.... certainly a glitch).

No, the Universal book is just the rules (plus examples etc.) for those who want to use them to create their own worlds and backgrounds. Each of the other books contains expanded rules and background(s) tailored to that genre, and each is a standalone book, so you only need one book to run your game (unless you're doing cross genre campaigns, of course!).

The revised edition is a noticeable improvement over the original edition (which was an excellent product to begin with).

Are there plans for a pod version and, if so, will there be a discount for those who already bought the pdf?

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
