Deathwatch: The Emperor's Chosen

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The Emperor’s Chosen is a supplement for Deathwatch dedicated to those rare Deathwatch Space Marines who ascend to the status of veteran.

This detailed tome lets players delve into the history of the Jericho Deathwatch and honor the heroic veteran Battle Brothers that have come before them. As part of a veteran Kill-team, Player Characters can assume a Heroic Legacy and combat their foes with tactical precision and martial excellence. Then, the included adventure invites Kill-teams to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and complete the mission that laid them low!

This is not a complete game. A copy of the Deathwatch Core Rulebook is required to use this supplement.

OK question. Dark Heresy 2.0 is supposed to be nothing like the first edition, incompatible with others and thus, possibly the next itineration for all FF Games products. I have heard tell it is like 5E D&D's playtest (which like so many, I am in on) and that makes me wonder... why throw out a new book for the 'old' set? Don't get me wrong I have buddies with Deathwatch. It is fun to play. It blends great with fixed incarnations of Ascension or Black Crusade. I can't speak for 'only war' which is apparently set up as a more freeform 'start at 500' setup for Imp Guard. I think.

Point is something like this is very welcomed if done right. I kinda hope it has some good chapter creation like 4th edition 40K had for space marines. True it made all the people playing 40K in tournies or aiming to win whine... but those people usually can't appreciate how hilarious 40K is supposed to be, was originally and should be. In a Tabletop something of that nature can work far better and would work wonders if...See more

I kinda asked myself the same question when I got the email from DTRPG about this product today. My guess is that DH, RT, DW and BC are all finished products with a product line behind them, and they each have different development teams working on their own line of products. I've bought the Dark Heresy 2.0 Beta, and it is indeed very different from other iterations of the game. Having said that, it doesn't look difficult at all to convert the characters over to the new system. The stats remain the same, the % function is the same. The big changes are that they reduce the number of skills and broaden their scope, and combat damage is done very, very differently. Characters don't have hit points any more: every time your take damage that exceeds your AP+T, you consult a much-expanded hit chart, like the critical hit charts in DH1.0, with the excess damage moving you further down the chart towards more severe wound effects. (Damage and AP are revamped too - Power Armour only grants a modest AP bonus now, but the...See more

My biggest disappointment with Dark Heresy 2.0 is how similar it is to 1st edition. Its essentially Dark Heresy using the Only War ruleset. The beta was fresh, new, and different. The second edition is too familiar, I was hoping for some fundamental changes.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
