Cosmic Odyssey is a line of Starfinder Roleplaying Game compatible products designed to give you, as both a player and as a gamemaster, all the tools you need to fully explore a classic motif of science fiction with new character options, equipment and vessels, as well as a location and NPCs. Designed to be dropped into your existing game, or to serve as a starting point for your adventures, each Cosmic Odyssey is ready-made for action. In Pirates of the Starstream we bring you to 8-Pieces Port, a safe haven to criminals that caters to the corsairs and buccaneers of the spaceways. Included in this book are new themes such as the brute and rogue, new drone options for mechanics, a new spell, new equipment for boarding and ramming, new sample starships like the gunboat, and several NPCs for you to drop into your campaign.

Picked this up from my "local" gameshop, as it was on sale. Boy, what a nice surprise!
I am a huge fan of Starfinder and I am usually not into 3rd party stuff, but this book really gives some awesome stuff and inspirations to run space pirates! :D
Great class-options, equipment, and NPCs.

I only have one question though: Where do I find the info about the "Danger" stat, written under the Spaceport's different settlements?

Great work and thank you!

The four starship components added are all interesting but have to be tightened up, mechanically, to be used. There's no power cost for any one. The Boarding Prow would presumably take up some space (and the example starship shows it does) but who knows how many mounts it takes and what size. I'll make my GM call and say 2 heavy mounts at the fore with equal PCU to BP cost (plasma coils) but it would be nice to have it in the book. Do the others take up expansion bays or are they slotless.

Glad to have it though.

Hi Jackson,

Glad to hear that you like our little book. :)

I just wanted to address your comment however, and if you don't mind I'll take them in reverse order.

PCU costs - Not all installations on a Starship take up a PCU cost, armor and sensors for example. That line of thinking was behind the starship equipment you see. The Beacon Hijacker is, in effect, an extension of the computers already installed on the ship (since it requires a Computers check). The Hyperspace Sensor is an extension of the existing sensors, which do not draw PCUs. while the Booster Thruster is a modification to the engine effect.
As for the Boarding Prow, while it does have the plasma coils to strengthen the penetrating power (as described), it too does not draw PCUs, but that is more of a game-mechanics choice. You see, each weapon uses the PCU as a type of "cost" for it's abilities, but in the case of the Boarding Prow, all it does is to increase the damage that you can already...See more

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
