Lizards vs. Wizards

The human world was blowed to bits in the Great Big Blammo way back in the Longago Days. Now is the Squam. There are monsters. There are wizards. There are lizards.

You are a lizard.

Good luck.

This is a little rpg about playing talking lizards in a post-apocalyptic world. The world is not defined or described in any way. It can be after nukes, alien invasion, viral doom, or zombie apocalypse. Doesn't matter. All that matters is you have a gang of little lizards exploring the ruins and contending with cats, dogs, and spider-dogs in order to survive. And the biggest threat? Freakin' wizards.

This is a 32 page PDF with cartoon pictures and lots of random tables for lizards, wizard stuff, and items to be found. It has a simple, random character creation system and a very simple percentile task resolution mechanic. There are no hit points or armor classes. If you fail to make your Survival roll, you are a dead lizard. Roll up another and keep playing!

You need a few players and some ten-sided dice in order to play. It comes with a character sheet.

Long live the Squam!

How am I supposed to run attacks as the Monitor? I feel like it isn't super clear. For instance, if a Lizard attacked a Man-Bat with a weapon, do they roll a d100 and add the Kill Factor of their weapon to determine the difficulty of the speed/survival check for the Bat? Or is it a Speed contest to hit something and then you roll with the Kill Factor added for the survival check difficulty?

I removed the reference to major and minor powers for wizards since it wasn't defined at all.

Loved setting up for this game - just not sure what survival score range to use for the Wizards. If it is just lizard vs monsters it runs okay.

I definitely didn't give you enough info on that. My intention was that wizards are invented however the Monitor needs them to be, so they'd get assigned a Survival (maybe) or they'd have some weakness that must be exploited. But honestly... I didn't picture wizards being "killable" by lizards. Instead, lizards would have to contend with the wizard in clever ways.

I was terribly unclear. What I meant was that each power on the table can be minor or major, which is entirely up to the Monitor's discretion as to how that works. So a minor flying power might mean glorified jumping, like the Hulk or something. While major flying is like Superman.

Actually... it's been a minute. If you download the revA version it doesn't mention major and minor powers. So I guess I realized this was unclear and fixed it...

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
