Wrath & Glory: Dark Tides

ADD TO WISHLIST >

The ocean world of Charybdion seethes with discontent and a growing sense of danger. Charybdion’s planetary governor has gone missing, and his councilors struggle to select a suitable heir. Meanwhile, mysterious murders, nightmares, and other dangers threaten to cast this planet into anarchy and despair.

Dark Tides is an anthology of five linked adventures that bringyour heroes face-to-face with the dangerous villains responsible for Charybdion’s troubles. Can your heroes confront the vile forces spreading insanity and corruption? The fate of this planet is in yourcharacters’ hands—if they can survive what lurks beneath the dark tides.

From the palace of the planetary governor to the seedy underhive, from streets plagued with horrific dreams to the depths of a terror-filled Enforcer facility, these adventures test the limits of your characters’ abilities. While these adventures are linked together in an overall narrative, there is advice for each one to be run as a standalone module instead, should you prefer.

The adventures in Dark Tides are ideal for campaigns of Tiers 2-4.

Is this, and any of the other Pre-Cubicle 7 files going to be updated to the revisions you guys just did? Or did the revisions not effect these products?

What new enemies are added in this adventure? Are there any additional character options as well? Wargear, etc?

Just picked it up, and from a quick scan-through, looks like it's just the adventures, no new gear or character options.

See, I'm puzzled. They are supposed to all be linked together (if you want them to be), yet adventures 1 thru 4 expect all the PCs to be Imperials working for a Rogue Trader, yet adventure no.5 expects all the PCs to be Craftworld or Corsair Eldar working for an Eldar Farseer. Yes, obviously you can tweak things to make them fit, but surely all 5 should have the same group expectation out of the gate?

I haven't bought this and read it yet, but my guess is maybe it's designed to play most of the story from an Imperial perspective, and then you can have Eldar characters prepped for the final session, and it approaches the mounting situation from their perspective because of whatever it is that's going on?

If that's the case, as the GM, I would *probably* have some pre-made Eldar for each PC ready for that final scenario, *or* I'd let the players choose to make an Imperial and Eldar character from the beginning (either way, I'd let them know about the switch at the end before starting any of the adventures).

Well, I have read it, and am not guessing. You may wanna do the same.

Well, it says it's a linked anthology, not that it's a campaign. So there are links between the adventures (or there can be), but it's not having the same PCs that links them.

Th R has it right. The adventures link together to tell the story of Charybdia rather than the story of your characters, with each adventure escalating to a higher tier. If you really wanted though you could probably stretch across two adventures with a single warband.
I like this, as it gives the campaign an epic feel where events are bigger than one warband (and gives the chance to explore play at different tiers to boot).

Matt S, in response to your reply to my speculation:

I made it clear that I hadn't read it and was just guessing, so it's not like I'm going to be leading anyone astray or confusing them, so no need to be snarky.

Plus, as Th R said (and Rob C, who's the only one listed as a verified purchaser at this point, confirmed), it's a linked anthology, which means my guess wasn't too far off the mark.

It clearly states on page 108 that this adventure is connected to the others by showing the story from another point of view and that there is an option to have an encounter with the original group that went through adventure 1-4.
It is not meant to be played with the same characters or even an imperial group.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
