New Heights of Adventure, with Stunning Cartography!

12 Peculiar Towers is a collection of 5th Edition adventures for characters level 1 to 13, with the theme of—you guessed it—towers. Clocking in at 76 pages, this collection offers new heights of lively action, tactics, and roleplaying.

Discover the mysteries that lie within:

  • The forest lair of a ravenfolk bandit gang
  • A magical archive of ancient elven lore
  • The hideout of a powerful thieves’ guild master
  • The stronghold of a sinister blood mage
  • …and 8 other distinctive dungeons!

Each tower comes with a beautifully illustrated map, including many 3D isometric maps, and of course plenty of traps, hazards, and enemies to challenge your players!

NOTE: This adventure collection uses monsters from the standard manual as well as from the Tome of Beasts and Creature Codex.

I purchased the Fantasy Grounds Unity version of this adventure from the Fantasy Grounds store. Since there is no way to write a review or leave any other feedback there, here are some things I found unsatisfactory in case some future FGU customer is interested.
- The entire FGU version of this adventure is read only. That serves no purpose, and made adapting it to my needs extremely cumbersome.
- The maps in the FGU version did not have the Line of Sight feature, I had to spend a long time adding it to them myself.
- When I buy a $14.99 5e adventure (price of the FGU version, as are the other quoted prices), I expect it to include everything specific to that adventure (i.e., I expect that I only need the basic set of 5e books in addition to be able to run it). But this adventure is chock-full of custom monsters that are not included -- I should also buy the publisher's (Kobold Press) own Tome of Beasts ($39.99) and Creature Codex ($39.99) to be able to run this! That is frankly preposterous....See more

Are there any exterior art work and interior maps for the players to see?

Oh! I had no idea that this was on the horizon; have been a bit overwhelmed by 5E and other D&D related products of late. But this one looks like a standout, and the map shown in the preview is _gorgeous_. Who is the cartographer? For once, I don't recognize the work...

I've certainly admired the black & white village maps he's done for Raging Swan Press, but never seen his colourwork or battlemaps before. You made a great choice, but high quality is never a surprise from you Kobolds!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
