Any feedback greatly appreciated - Thank you for your support! **

Note: this is a B&W book, printed on standard colour 70 gsm paper (some headings in colour).

Welcome Wanderer!

This 245 page softcover (full size 8.5" x 11") is a compilation of twenty two B&W Adventure Frameworks, no’s 12, 18, 23, 28-46; providing a range of short, independent adventures set in common locations such as cities, forests, mountains, hills, swamps and underground. None of these adventures were included in the Midlands Low Magic Sandbox Setting (most were created post Midlands).

  • A Debt Unpaid (39)
  • A Perilous Voyage (44)
  • Call of the Colossus (40)
  • Carnifexum (34)
  • Cultists in Crow’s Keep (32)
  • Curse of the Salt Queen (38)
  • Den of Thieves (36)
  • Fane of the Frog God (46)
  • Folds Between Worlds (33)
  • Hall of the Dwarf Lord (18)
  • Hanging City of Nenchagi (45)
  • Hive of the Mudmen (35)
  • Last of the Longbeards (30)
  • Red Moon Harvest (23)
  • Rooftop  Rumble (12)
  • Ruins of Ashabat (28)
  • Shadows & Dust (37)
  • Vault of Goblin Dreams (41)
  • Vengeance at Trollbridge (31)
  • Whitestone Tower (42)
  • Riddle of the Golden Rat (29)
  • Dungeon Flip: More Skulls for Ulgoth (43)

Specifically designed for low prep, improvised play, each framework comes with hooks/rumours, a core scenario, NPC details & statistics, random encounters, and B&W line art. Nineteen of the adventures include hand drawn maps.

Armed with this compilation, filling your sandbox with small - medium sized adventures has never been easier. Browse the collection, throw out a few hooks, and let the players bite where they may. Whichever direction they take, you'll be ready to handle it with aplomb.

System

These adventures use the Low Fantasy Gaming system, and are set in the Midlands Low Magic Sandbox Setting by default. They are easily adapted to other d20 based systems and medieval worlds.

What’s Missing

Consistent with Low Fantasy Gaming’s open world philosophy, there are no level guides for adventures. If your intended system does not include a Party Retreat rule of some kind, you might consider implementing one. Some adventures are clearly more difficult than others however, and ballpark “danger” guides are provided.

Note frameworks do not include “read aloud” text. Every time a GM reads boxed text, an ad-lib fairy dies, and we've too much blood on our hands already. Paraphrasing and natural speech from the GM keeps players guessing what's pre-planned, and what's off-the-cuff-I-totally-planned-that awesome. And we wants that awesome, precious. We wants it.

Hiya, Is there any way of setting up this for POD in Australia? Shipping is more than the book!

By which I think I mean UK printing? Cheaper post from the UK to Australia, it seems!

Hi Russell, not from our end unfortunately. I feel your pain also being in Australia. I'm not sure if there's a DTRPG UK site that you could order it through perhaps?

Hi Greg, do you mean Midlands Low Magic Sandbox Setting? (Adventure Framework Collection #1 is not on Lulu). If you send me an email at psikerlord@live.com I'll send you a PDF. Cheers.

Low Fantasy Gaming has now entirely replaced D&D5e at my table. Its quasi-realistic grit is something that is missing from most modern tables. The rules have been finely tuned and crafted to allow that classic old-school RPG style to seep into your storytelling and gaming playstyle. It is a beautiful book well deserved to be amongst the great classics of tabletop roleplaying rule books.

Midlands Low Magic Sandbox Setting does not claim to have Adv. Framework 5, 25 or 26 but under those individual frameworks they say are in MLMSS with that 25 is in truncated version. What is true?

Oh you're right - AF 5 is not in any book! We missed it! AF 25 Revelry in Northgate is renamed Hunt for Lord Hargraves in Midlands. AF 26 Cloudcrag is in Midlands too (same name).

Hi, I have purchased this product but I made the mistake to take only the Softcover instead of the Softcover+the PDF (both options being set to the same price... )
Is there a solution for me to have the pdf or do I have to buy it for an extra €18,18 ?
Sorry for bothering you with that.
André.

I am just curious- How did you decide to include these adventures in the book and not others? Will the other adventures be in another book? It would be convenient to have them all in print form, even if in different books. Thank you!

=====
After some research I think I found the answer- all the other adventures are in the Midlands book. :)

Hi Chad - yes that's correct - the other adventures make up the back half of Midlands :) (except Temple of Shennog, and one other adventure, I forget which now, I inadvertently left them out!). Midlands is a Lulu print product only however, if you are after a print version.

What makes this compatible with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying?

Mitch the adventures are written for Low Fantasy Gaming RPG, so you'd have to swap out monster statistics and spells. Otherwise however the adventures tend to be low magic, and of short compass, which should work well with the WFRP system. The Call of the Colossus adventure is a free PDF on DTRPG which will give you a better idea. Hope this helps.

I agree that these Adventure Frameworks are compatible with WFRP for the following reasons:
(i) I have restatted and run half a dozen or so of these for WFRP 2e, and they went well; as the author noted above, all
you really need to do is swap out monster details, exact magical spells, detailed mutations etc;
(ii) Many of the same themes, e.g. cultists, demons, thieves' guilds, magic regarded with suspicion;
(iii) Has variants of some of the classic WFRP monsters, e.g. beastmen (skorn) and skaven (skratt).

Delecarte's Carnival of Wonders and Revelry in Northgate (free) strike me as very warhammery; Night at the
Green Goblin could be viewed as a Rough Night at the Three Feathers variant. There are also rather original offerings such as Carnifexum (gladiatorial games).

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
