Meet the Rogue Agent…

Pasqualina placed the last of the charges. The gaggle of Whitecoats was still talking jargon, and none of the tanks had been activated yet. With luck, she could send another biofac straight to hell.

Before leaving, she peered over the large conduit at the group. Wyatt wasn’t there, but she recognized Wilbanks from the Agency’s R&D division. If she could take him out along with the biofac, it would be a big blow against the plot she had worked so long against.

Suddenly, something clattered behind her. Her head snapped around at the sound. The charge! The molecular glue hadn’t set right and the device had fallen to the floor.

“Hey! You there!” one of the Whitecoats shouted. Mouthing a curse, she scooped up the charge with one hand while drawing her pistol with the other. Several Whitecoats fell at the shots. But someone hit an alarm.

Pasqualina knew what that meant. Sure enough, in seconds she saw herself striding purposefully into the room with a shotgun, murder in her eye. She knew more copies of herself were in the tanks. Desperately, she flung the still-active explosive at her doppelganger’s feet, hoping that the result would be a dead copy and a clear route to the door.
