Its late, you're tired, and the orbital station's diner is closed in recognition of some local planetary holiday. You'd just eat your ship's nutra-maker's mush but you can't... the stupid thing broke down last week. You're starving and the quickest option are the assorted vending machines that line the walls of the station's lobbies. Not really a meal, per say, but it'll keep hunger away for awhile.

You walk up to the nearest snack machine and study the contents. Bags of candy, packs of preserved meat, some weird lab made protein concoction that you don't even want to think about. You spot a mushy breakfast cake sealed in plastic foil and foolishly press the buttons for it. It is only after you finished the second pack of those salty, greasy, slightly strange tasting chips do you notice that the snack expired over two galactic months ago.
