When I first saw this kit available as a download I was quite excited. I knew the kit would have some issues with gameplay, due to the strict adherence to scale, but thought it would still be cool to use with diecast cars. I was pleasantly surprised to find the textures were not simple vector drawings. However, the drawn part shapes do not match up with each other correctly, as the same part can be made up of five rectangles, as usual, but at certain points the mating edges are not the same length. The textures don't quite fit into the rectangles, either. There is also some spillover of colour and weathering on the image, in some places the weathering has noticably continued beyond the edge of the part. This is no real problem, as it is cut off anyway, however one must check twice that it is on the original file, rather than a sign that you should have replaced your magenta drum ten thousand pages ago. This could lead to spurious service calls. The real issue, however, is the use of the entire page, as far as can be gotten away with; right up to the edges of the printer margins. Most colour electrostatic engines cannot be adjusted closer to 4mm from the edge of the page, and little more for ink or bubble engines. Printing at full size will certainly cut off some of the parts, and not just the parts of the tabs where no-one can see, either: there is actual texture and shape of the visible parts missing. I know it may not be the most efficient use of paper, but parts pages should be organised such that nothing is lost when printing on metric paper sizes.

A fine design, but simply doesn't seem to have been completely developed.

Cemetery At Night - from the RPG & TableTop Audio Experts

This makes an incredibly busy nighttime cemetery, particularly the repetitive dog barks. Some effects, such as the digging, are too loud; perhaps you need the sound of the player characters digging, or talking to a gravedigger while he's trying to dig a grave (which would set the scene well back in history for many areas), but it really is too close. The incessant barking is really getting rather annoying. (I'm listening again as I type this.)

Abandoned Factory - from the RPG & TableTop Audio Experts

I recently attended a model railway conference where the lectures included workshops on layout sound. One of the biggest issues was TOO DAMN LOUD. That's what I've heard here.

All the sounds you expect are present, but there is one that is too much, and that is the wind. The noise of the loose parts of the building is also too loud, but exacerbated by the massive blast of wind. As you might expect, the loose shutters etc. are louder because of the gale-force winds, but the better solution would be to lower the wind velocity until you have an abandoned factory with an eerie howl of wind blowing through it, rather than, as we have here, an abandoned factory caught in a Category 2 cyclone. (I've been there. Not a factory, but I've been there. I know.)

Feel free, of course, if you happen to have an abandoned factory in your campaign and need the PCs to stay there due to a severe storm, but it's much too loud for gaming ambience.

I don't know what I'd use this for, as it is not really suitable for the ambience of a haunted house. It's more like the ambience of a haunted house full of dumb teens partying before they discover the horrible thing that caused the house to be considered "haunted", but it''s too loud and busy to suggest the atmosphere of a haunted house. More like Wednesday and Pugsley Addams grew up to be ravers than an investigation into a creepy house of fear and nightmares.

Future Armada: Mercury Trio

I cannot fault this set, simply for value. However, there are some design flaws. Often with this series, I have had trouble cutting the tiles out, as the edges always overlap, and I try to cut off the excess, but it becomes more and more difficult. With the Mercury itself, I found I could not cut the tiles accurately. I like the unique, non-box-shaped ship with its bizarre internal structure, but the shapes render it difficult to cut off the overlap.

Also, there are a number of places where it is too obvious that the resolution is not as high as it should be for battlemaps. It's most obvious in the curves of the Mercury.
