Starport Precinct Map Kit
Publisher: Dave Graffam Models

So I wasn't 100% clear what this was before I bought it, but I'm really glad I got it. I was thinking "precinct" as in the area around a starport. This is a literal police precinct (or, I suppose, security precinct) for what would probably be a ground-based starport. The scale is 2m x 2m squares, slightly larger than the Traveller standard of 1.5 m squares. Descriptions are flexible, and imagine the same installation/maps being used at various tech levels (i.e. the "combat simulator" is imagined from high-tech to basically no-tech). The flexibility give this thing some extra re-usability. That said, it would be a shame to use it only once, given all the thought has gone into it. I imagine using it as the central location for a kind of Hill Street Blues spun up in a sci-fi setting.

Decopedia Volume 2

I listen to Felbrigg's excellent podcast, but usually can't take notes while I'm listening. However, I just love the content -- particularly the way the animals aren't just abstract creatures, but have been blended into a believable relationship with humans (with, e.g. opinions on cuteness, how they smell, quirks of behaviour). The same goes for all of the different categories here. As soon as I realized that these sets of ten correspond (episode by episode) to the content featured on the Behind the Claw podcast, this was an instant buy, and well worth it.

Dead Light

Played beautifully. This is what Cthulthu should be. The antagonist creature very easy to play for the Keeper without pushing human motives--very much a 1950s kind of relentless evil, a la The Blob or Stephen King's The Mist. Meanwhile there's no railroading; the PCs were smothered by their own choices in every direction. The most beautiful moment for me as Keeper was when the PCs realized they would endanger themselves no matter what they did and decided they would just be as courageous as they could be. Ending a bit anticlimactic (due to player choice) but it worked out for a very fun evening.

ACKS Domains at War: Free Starter Edition

I really like the basic idea but...no examples, no ready-made factions/characters, no scenario. Any questions of depth get referred to some other core book. In sum, I can't see how to use this book to start anything. It's just not a quickstart. I want to like it, but after several read-throughs, I simply can't use it.
