Free! Fantasy Stock Art

A simple pack that does 100% what it says on the tin: You get a bunch of different line drawings of mostly weapons, but also a few torches, banners and the like. With an extremely open license, this is a no-brainer for anyone needing to create anything really. That it's free is almost criminal. Well recommended.

OWB001: WWII: Operation WhiteBox

I must admit the idea of "WW2 D&D" struck me as an incredibly poor fit, but I purchased the book anyways and was pleasantly surprised.

The writer has done a fantastic job making the game flow well, striking a good balance between rules simplicity and enough chrome to feel satisfying. A lot of gamers will go into a game like this with particular expectations and I think this game will meet them pretty well.

There are things I'd have liked to see added or expanded upon (as always) but you get a really playable package with a ton of ideas to get on a table and play.

This is well recommended and I actually regret not picking up the print version instead. This would look fantastic on a bookshelf along my wargames books.

Original Edition Characters

Some of the material here seems to overlap with regular Labyrinth Lord, as spells and such are reproduced.

Mainly what you get is the "original D&D" feel in character classes and races, which is cool, but I'd have liked to see some discussion of other curiosities of the original game, like magic items, the original combat system with multiple attacks for large monsters and so forth.

I got this at a sale for 4 dollars which seemed fair. For the full 8, I'd have felt a little cheated.

The Adventurer

I'm a big fan of these little, cheapie class expansions for old D&D. The adventurer class is a rather funny addition, being essentially a sort of every-man hero. He isn't overly good at any one thing, but can do a number of different tasks. On top of that, you get an inn at high levels. This character would probably fit in well in a number of different settings and groups.

Delving Deeper - Skill Systems (Labyrinth Lord)
Publisher: Brave Halfling Publishing

This is a rather short product, but appropriate for the low cost. You get a single skill list with a short number of "adventure" oriented skills. Then you are presented with 3 different resolution systems, mostly taken from traditional D&D methods of resolution: A D6 based system, a percentile system and an ability check system.

It fits nicely in the context of old D&D, and could be attached to any "old" D&D based game, whether based off "classic", "basic" or "advanced" versions.
