I've binge played through all of the books in this series, just finished Drums at Daggerford and I can't wait for the next installment. The mechanics in this latest are amazing. I could use a little more clarity on the gaining and usage of Progress points, perhaps give them a consequence for the BBEG (ie: if you encounter the BBEG and have more than X Progress points, the win conditions are just a bit more difficult to attain)

The maps in the pdf hyperlinked to their encounter text helped with the immersion experience, more of this please.

I'm surprised at how attached to my lvl 2 tossaway wizard I created to test out the first book. I'm almost disappointed I don't have a real game to plop them into.

I was baffled at how big this is! I played the first ones in one session each but there is no way doing this with this module. Took me 5 nights this time. Great writing, interesting locations, inovative mechanics. Only "downpoint" this time for me is that there is WAY to much combat going on for my taste. Part 4 "The Tortured Land" was my personal favourite so far. Still: hard to beat when it comes to solo modules. Highly recommended! Hope this will go on for a couple more adventures.

Excellent adventure! I've really enjoyed this and the other work written by Bimler, and am looking foward (slightly impatiently) to future releases. Thank you!

Another fantastic adventure, possibly the best one in this series yet. Exceptionally well done Paul.

This adventure has a lot of encounters, a mystery, interesting combats, lucid writing and a story you'll like become invested in. Solo adventures really aren't much better than this currently. Different approaches to solving problems work, different character builds should be fine (I played a paladin and thought that this would go just as well for a rogue).

I'm really looking forward to the next adventure in this series.

Given that I've been the Forever DM for several groups, it's not often that I'm able to enjoy a game as a player. When I happened along these products, I was intrigued (to say the least). I've sincerely enjoyed every minute of playing through the Sole 5E modules, and this is BY FAR the best one to date! Frankly, I don't think they're charging enough for this based upon the amount of time and creativity they've put into the product - but I certainly appreciate how they haven't put up a heavy paywall to access their excellent adventures. Please keep these coming, as I'll be waiting on bated breath for the next one!

Thank you for your contribution to the RPG community!

Unquestionably the best solo adventure I've encountered. Player agency, the progression point system, excellent rewards and well written NPCs bring this adventure to life.

I've used 5e Solo Gamebooks products to playtest several characters and UA options because they are so well balanced.

At this point I've played several solo adventures from various authors and publishers, and Paul Bimler consistently does the best job of developing the three main aspects of such a product...a coherent/immersive storyline, a good amount of branching and variety in the adventure (so it doesn't seem too linear), and good quality encounter design (so they're not too easy, not too hard, and thorough but straightforward for the player to use). The closer it feels to a fluid, open experience, the better (which I realize is extremely hard, particularly if you want to keep the document under a couple hundred pages!). I know it's a low bar, but there are products out there that leave out important stats and mechanics, have spelling typos and grammatical errors, only take a few minutes (quite literally) to complete, and just seem incredibly sloppy and unimaginative. For what it's worth, Mr. Bimler goes above that bar, and creates a pretty interesting, challenging, and fulfilling adventure in all of his works. You can certainly see how he's evolved from Death Knight's Squire, to Drums at Daggerford, both as a designer and writer. Nothing is perfect, of course, and Drums at Daggerford still had a few balancing issues in the encounters (the toughest encounter proved not to be the boss battle, but an earlier encounter with minions (due to how the encounter was laid out spatially, and various terrain considerations). But yes, I do recommend Drums at Daggerford (and yes, it would be more enjoyable to have progressed through the previous adventure arc first...so I'd say at least start at Tyrant of Zhentil Keep). Which made me think of a big caveat to my opinions...I prefer campaigns, and the experience of a character developing, both narratively and mechnically. So this series is fulfilling that for me quite well (so hopefully it continues!). But that's me. For those players who just want a one-hour one-shot, there are adventures out there like that, which market themselves as being such.

Paul Bimler does it again with this latest installment in his solo D&D series. His series has managed to capture all of the fantastic elements from the CYOA gamebooks from the 1980s, [Sorcery! (Steve Jackson Games) was one of my absolute favorites] while still providing an enjoyable experience that stays true to the D&D 5e GAME.

Drums at Daggerford 'feels' like a much larger adventure than the previous entries in the series...as it should. Since you are now a 5th level character, you can handle a lot more than a 1st level whelp. The combats are challenging, and a few are even deadly...but the story gives fair warning before jumping off of that cliff. The story is compelling, and grows as you make your way through the adventure...and it doesn't railroad you into a linear track. You are free to move throughout as your own whim drives you, but the longer you take, the more likely you are to have more combat encounters.

Paul adds sidekicks to this adventure as well, and you have the opportunity to find one (or two) depending on how your choices lead you.

All in all, this adventure was completely enjoyable, and I highly recommend this (and the entire series).

Strap on your sword and prepare your spells as you dare to challenge the Drums at Daggerford!!

Many thanks for the kind words David. I too am a HUGE fan of Sorcery!!! The aesthetic of those books is a huge inspiration to me in creating these adventures.
